Vendors Initiative for Social and Economic Transformation (VISET) is a union of informal economy wprkers with structures throughout Zimbabwe. The organization was formed and registered as a Trust in 2015 to spearhead the social and economic transformation of street vendors by championing their quest to earn livelihoods in the current harsh economic circumstances. Furthermore, the organization was formed under the need for a solidarity centre for street vendors who continue to be victims of human rights violations.
The organization has a national membership database of over 68,000 vendors located in all major cities, towns, and growth points in Zimbabwe. In November 2019, the organisation established a Chapter in Namibia as part and parcel of its regional expansion programme.
The organization seeks the services of an experienced and qualified grants management consultant to undertake a process of grants management training for VISET Staff and other stakeholders.
Scope of Services:
The individual’s services are required to conduct grants and financial management training for the secretariat. This training primarily aims to familiarize participants, both Viset and stakeholders with the mechanisms of grants management and finance for non-finance managers and provide key information and practical tools that ensure administrative and financial staff are ready to set up effective monitoring systems of project expenditures and procurement procedures to be ready for reporting,
Responsibilities:
- Conduct an in-depth analysis of industry best practices and regulatory frameworks to ensure that our grant management processes adhere to the highest transparency, accountability, and impact standards.
- Collaborate with relevant departments and teams to integrate feedback and ensure that the grant management policies and procedures align with the unique needs and challenges of our NGO’s development projects.
- Provide mentoring and training for Program managers and Officers on grants administration and management.
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the learning plan participants are expected to:
- Have a good understanding of best practices in donor rules.
- Proper application of procurement principles and procedures and ability to confidently organize procurement processes.
- Excellent understanding of cost principles
- Working knowledge of financial management
Suggested Methodologies
Interactive presentations are alternated with practical cases and simulations, exercises, debating sessions, workshops, partnering and exchanges with the participants.
Terms of Payment
Payments to the consultant will be effected in two phases. Of the total cost of the assignment, 50% will be remitted by Viset to the consultant as first instalment upon signing of the contract. The remaining 50% of the consultancy fees shall be remitted only after completion of the assignment and approval of the deliverables.
Qualification:
- A minimum of a higher degree in a related field;
- Demonstrated grants-making and financial management experience and success in delivering the same courses;
- Proven record of designing and delivering related trainings;
- Extensive facilitation experience in building staff capacities;
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills including experience in facilitation of training/workshops and presentations; and
- Excellent communication and written skills in English.
Deadline and submission of expression of interest
Viset invites interested consultants to submit the following documents by 15th April 2024
- Expression of interest (EoI) outlining how the trainer/facilitator meets the selection criteria and their understanding of the ToR.
- A summarized description of the scope of work and the intended methodology to be used as well as a tentative work plan including activities and time frames.
- Names and contacts of three recent professional referees (previous clients) for whom similar work has been conducted.
- Curriculum vitae (CV) outlining relevant qualifications and experience.
- Itemized financial proposal.
