The Vendors Initiative for Social and Economic Transformation (VISET) joins the rest of the world in celebrating the Customer Service Week. The Customer Service Week is an international celebration of the importance of customer service and of the people who serve and support customers on a daily basis. The commemorations runs from the 2nd to the 6th of October 2023. The approved 2023 Customer Service Week theme is Team Service. The celebration is an imperative reminder that no matter where frontline representatives are working, what their job titles are, or how they serve customers, everyone is on the same team. The day is an opportunity to celebrate the power of consumers and demand that their rights be respected and protected all the time.
Since formation in 2015, VISET has continued to embrace the globally acknowledged five main customer values that include: functional, social, emotional, epistemic, and conditional values. Increasing customer affinity and loyalty is an important goal for customer service teams, especially in 2023 – as customers have increasingly more choices about what to buy and where to buy it, developing affinity and loyalty for your brand is an important part of customer retention and preservation. This is especially vital as the call for the formalisation of the informal economy grows louder and gaudier each day.
As VISET, we urge our members, the illustrious Socio-Economic Champions (SOCHAMPS) across the Southern Africa Region, to embrace the Customer Service Week as an inimitable opportunity to join with other membership and service-focused organizations around the globe to recognize and reward frontline representatives for the important work they do all year long. In the face of heightened competition, the day is an opportunity to boost morale, motivation, and teamwork, raise organisational awareness of the important role that customer service plays in the organization’s success. It is also an opportunity to thank other departments for their support and remind your customers of the organization’s commitment to customer service and excellence.
