Vendors Initiative for Social and Economic Transformation (VISET) welcomes the commencement of the national registration exercise by the Civil Registry Department through to 30 September 2022.
There can be no overstating the importance of this exercise as it is the fulfilment of constitutional obligations by the government and as citizens, we must play our part in availing ourselves at centres conveniently located to us.
During the last held mobile voter registration blitz, many youths were left frustrated as they did not have national identity documents. Many youths that left school in recent years are at present not having national identity documents.
VISET will be disseminating information on the available centres to our membership throughout the country, via our social media accounts and through national publicity campaigns.
We urge Civil Registry to adopt modern methods of communicating by use of influencers, social media tools and arts groups as they are more aligned and in touch with youth trends.
Finally, we exhort and encourage our counterparts in civic society to collaborate and coordinate efforts in order for us to be able to better serve our country, for we are stronger together!
